Funding

Both the cost and funding of graduate school will vary, depending on the type of program you are pursuing. Explore all options to fund your education, including assistantships, scholarships, and loans. Carefully examine any pay back requirements and options regarding loans.

Assistantships & Fellowships

Inquire about graduate and/or teaching assistantships, as well as fellowships offered by the programs you're applying to. These funding opportunities are most often school-specific and may involve teaching, research, advising, or administrative duties.

Be sure to check with each institution about the application process and deadlines, which could involve applying to specific professors, departments, or offices in addition to applying to the graduate program. Assistantship applications may have earlier deadlines than general admission applications.

Federal Assistance & Loans

For federal assistance and loans, applicants may complete a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The federal government offers the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program for individuals who will pursue a full-time public service job. The U.S. Dept of Education Office of Federal Student Aid provides resources to help you prepare and pay for school.

Scholarships

For national scholarship opportunities including Beinecke, Truman, and others, visit the Office of Undergraduate Academic Affairs for more information.

Inquire with each program you are applying to regarding any scholarships that may be housed within that department and reserved for graduate students.
