Parking for Other Permit Types

New to parking on campus? Follow our Parking Checklist and you’ll be set to go!
  1. Know the Rules and Regulations for parking on campus, and follow them.
  2. Volunteers - Register your vehicle with Parking Services online! Be sure to have a pdf copy of your current registration and proof of insurance.  See information under General Permit below.
  3. Place your permit according to placement guidelines outlined by Parking Services.

Contractor & Vendor Passes
Campus Contractors & Vendors (Pink Cardstock or Green Cardstock)

Contractor permits - those who need to park on campus to work on campus projects not parking within the fence line of a project.  Permits are assigned by the project or contract manager. This permit allows parking of personal or company vehicles in F/S spaces outside of the project fence line. Contractor Vehicle passes are granted in limited numbers; managers must submit request in advance to Parking Services for consideration to park in spaces adjacent to the construction or job site. If approved, contractors may purchase passes for use of these spaces.  Parking within the designated staging area of the Kaplan Arena lot will continue to be provided for projects at no additional cost. Project managers should contact Parking Services to request passes for this area at the beginning of each project.

  • Assignment of Laydown & Storage space will be coordinated in advance by FPDC PM/CM and Parking Services, spaces will be allocated within the marked and designated area of the Lower Kaplan Arena Lot.  
  • Charge for Project Mgmt spaces/passes when requested outside of the project fence line
    • Short term (T4 monthly equivalent = $32) Projects <6 mo.
    • Long term  (Annual pass rate at baseline tier = T4 ($383)
  • No Charge for parking within the project fence line or allocated space in Lower Kaplan Arena Lot.
  • Add on spaces to support material deliveries, site prep, additional inspections are provided and paid for by the project
    • Examples – Load in/out of materials, crane operations, utility tie-ins, trenching, etc
    • Must provide 5 business days’ notice of major work requiring spaces near the site
    • Rate = current special event rates (# of spaces + cost of signage)

Vendor permits - those who provide frequent services short term, such as one hour service calls, or many short service calls over a few days.  Vendors in company vehicles are directed to use loading docks for deliveries and are limited to one hour.  Vendors under contract with the university may request monthly or annual permits in the expectation of regular service calls.  Submit a request to Parking Services for longer duration passes, otherwise vendors come to Parking Services for a daily pass on each call to the university.

  • Vendors bidding or seeking to do business with the William & Mary pay the prevailing full or ½ daily rate ($6 or $3)
  • Vendors with established agreements pay: 
    • Daily = $3
    • Weekly = $7
    • Monthly = $14
    • Annual = $170
  • Company marked vehicles are restricted to loading docks and service vehicle spaces only; If and when other spaces are required the responsible department must request special parking assignment, billed to dept. using current special event rates (# of spaces + cost of signage)
Motorcycle or moped permit explanation and example

The motorcycle permit entitles the registered vehicle to park on campus.  Motorcycles, mopeds, and motor scooter meeting the state engine size requirements >49CC, seat high requirements >24" or capable of speeds in excess of 35 MPH, are allowed to park ONLY in pre-defined and approved motorcycle parking spaces.  Motorcycles parked in any location other than the pre-defined and approved parking areas are subject to citation. The cost of the permit will be ½ of the base rate. For safety reasons, unless otherwise noted, these vehicles are not permitted to park on sidewalks, under building overhangs, inside courtyards, or in buildings, at any time.

This permit allows parking at the Kaplan Arena lot and School of ED student lots 1-5 only.  Individuals with this privilege may register up to two vehicles. This permit is not valid in metered or timed spaces at any time, unless displayed WITH a current valid ADA permit.  Members with DMV issued ADA credentials and the Osher permit may park in any faculty/staff parking space when standard ADA spaces are not readily available. During W&M academic breaks, the Osher permit is valid in student spaces within the Parking Deck and faculty/staff spaces along James Blair Dr. The Osher permit is not valid in off-campus paid parking lots. General permits are intended for non-William & Mary affiliated persons who volunteer at the university or have a frequent need to visit and use university facilities, such as Williamsburg city residents or independent researchers. The General permit allows parking in faculty/staff spaces, except those reserved at all times.  Read these instructions to learn how to register and buy this permit.  Contact blmahar@wm.edu if you encounter problems or if a volunteer's sponsor needs to send documentation.

This application is for people in residence but not otherwise employed by William & Mary and therefore non-affiliated.  Documentation from sponsoring dept must be provided to Parking before this permit is issued.  Contact Mr. Radcliffe or Ms. Mahar with documentation or questions.

Daily Passes - Faculty/Staff & Students
Temporary Passes (Cardstock or Scratch-off - color varies with privilege)

Customers who do not wish to purchase a permit for year round use may order a daily temp pass equivalent. The cost of a daily pass is $6 and evening pass is $3 for all classifications.

Temp faculty and staff - may purchase passes on a weekly or monthly basis at the approved tiered rate.

Freshman and Sophomores - those who do not qualify for a permit may, under extenuating circumstances, purchase temporary passes for short term periods not to exceed 14 days.  Student should have license plate info, as it will be required at time of purchase.  Contact Mr. Radcliffe or Ms. Mahar to order.

All students - may purchase a temp pass following the Thanksgiving holiday until Winter break at the prevailing daily rate ($6/day).  Guests may use the Pay-by-App.  More information on visitor parking here.
