Financial Assistance

All doctoral students will receive tuition and a stipend for four years: three years of course work and dissertation preparation, and a final 'write-up' year. The third and fourth year of funding are normally not consecutive. Financial assistance may be available for summer research. Pending admission, students with national fellowships are welcome to the program. Continued funding is contingent on the performance of the student, and each student must show satisfactory progress as determined by the department's Graduate Committee in order to remain in good standing. A separate application is not necessary for financial aid.

Students in the terminal MA program do not receive funding from the Department of Anthropology. For information on other sources of financial aid, MA students should contact the Office of Financial Aid of the College of William and Mary.
