Linking W&M email addresses

To link a William & Mary email address in the event Contact, Summary or Full Description, start with a WMuserid (for example "txjeff"). Prepend the WMuserid with the letter w, e, v or m followed by a vertical bar or pipe (|). Surround it with double square brackets, e.g. txjeff.

The combination of letter and '|' tells the events system into which W&M email format to convert the WMuserid according to the following rules:

Prepend
Rule
Example

w|

Converts to W&M email format: userid@wm.edu

txjeff converts to txjeff@wm.edu

e|

Converts to WMApps email format: userid@email.wm.edu

txjeff converts to txjeff@email.wm.edu

v|

Converts to VIMS email format: userid@vims.edu

txjeff converts to txjeff@vims.edu

m|

Converts to Mason email format: userid@mason.wm.edu

txjeff converts to txjeff@mason.wm.edu

cs|

always converts to CS email format: username@cs.wm.edu

txjeff converts to txjeff@cs.wm.edu

math|

always converts to Mathematics email format: username@math.wm.edu

txjeff converts to txjeff@math.wm.edu

physics|

always converts to Physics email format: username@physics.wm.edu

txjeff converts to txjeff@physics.wm.edu

This works for linked phrases, too. For example txjeff,Thomas Jefferson will make the text "Thomas Jefferson" a mailto link to txjeff@mason.wm.edu like Thomas Jefferson.
