Who is eligible for mentoring?For 2022-2023, Waller Mill Elementary School, James River Elementary School, and Lafayette High School, are the current participants for the program. |
Who will work with my child?W&M students who have expressed interest in mentoring, completed training for protecting minors and effective youth work, and who have passed a W&M background check. |
Will volunteers be trained?Yes. All volunteers will complete youth work training and the Virginia Department of Social Services’ Child Abuse Recognition and Intervention Training designated for mandated reporters. |
When will the mentorship take place?Volunteers will go into the schools and meet with your child during their lunch period or aftershock (depending on the school). |
How can I provide feedback of the experience?All parent/guardians will receive a survey at the conclusion of the session. You can submit additional feedback at any time via this form. |
