Pete is a graduate of Rider University in Lawrenceville, New Jersey, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in English Literature. He went on to receive an MBA from the Mason School of Business at the College of William and Mary in 1997. In 2004, Pete earned PMP certification, a nationally-recognized credential from the Project Management Institute. Pete also became certified in the Governance of Enterprise Information Technology by the Information Systems Audit and Control Association in 2008.
As the information security officer for W&M, Pete directs and manages the College’s Information Security Program and plays a key role in several college-wide committees, including the Enterprise Risk Management committee.
Pete has inspired and managed the evolution of an IT project management methodology and leads the unit that supports both the professionally certified and ad-hoc project managers assigned to IT and campus-wide projects. Pete also manages IT budgets and provides expert support on financial matters to the CIO.
Pete personally manages complex and large-scale IT projects and recently oversaw the implementation of a new VoIP phone system. By state requirement, Pete also serves as the project manager for all IT projects with budgets over one million dollars.
Prior to his arrival at W&M in 1999, Pete worked as an analyst for Anderson Consulting in Washington, D.C. He is also the former owner and manager of local businesses in Williamsburg and Charlottesville.
