Special Diets

Do you have a special dietary need and are concerned about the transition to the campus dining program? Well at William & Mary, we take special diets very seriously. We have developed a nationally-recognized program that works with students to ensure that their needs are met:

  • Four week menu cycle that provides a host of healthy meal options
  • Full salad bar at the two residential dining locations and the Marketplace food court
  • Daily menus and nutritional information are available on CampusDish
  • Nutrition cards are displayed at the residential dining locations
  • Color coded systems to highlight which dietary need is being met
  • Almond and Lactaid milk is available daily in the residential dining locations
  • Chicken breast is available upon request at the grill stations
Gluten Intolerance
  • The Outside of the Box program is available at the residential dining locations and the Marketplace and offers six gluten free entrees daily and can make other items to order. Five gluten free entrees are also either lactose free or vegan as well
  • Gluten free bakery items are prepared daily at the on-site bakery
  • Two gluten free cereals are available daily in residential locations
  • William & Mary Bakery provide gluten free and sugar free desserts
Vegetarian Options
  • Veggie burgers are available upon request at the grill station every day
  • Dedicated vegetarian station at residential dining locations that has a four week menu cycle
  • Cheese pizza is available daily at the pizza station
  • Vegetarian soup is available daily
Be Informed
  • Just Ask is program that encourages students to Just Ask if they have a special request, need food prepared a special way, have a concern or need more information. Employees wear Just Ask buttons to remind students that Dining is here to meet their needs
  • A Regional Nutritionist and Health and Wellness Coordinator regularly visits campus to conduct allergens awareness and special diet workshops as well as chef demos.

Most importantly, William & Mary has a dedicated Special Diets Chef, Arnie Preib, who acts as a resource to both students and the Dining culinary team. Chef Preib is available to address questions and concerns, tour the dining locations and kitchens and to review menus and recipes.
