Background
Jaeseok Cho earned his doctorate from The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He is interested in civil wars, international conflicts, and international institutions, with a focus on factors related to civil war recurrence. He is also interested in data generated from social networks, which examines the relationship between individuals’ Twitter usage and their political ideology using Congressional Twitter data. Regionally, he is interested in East Asia. His other current project examines the relationship between foreign aid and the probability of interstate conflicts using the case of territorial disputes in the South China Sea.
