The W&M Washington Center is hosting our 2nd annual Study in DC Day on campus!   Look out for faculty, staff, and former students as we promote all the ways to Study in DC! The day will be filled with activities and of course free food!

DC Semester Program

The DC Semester Program is an academic experience with an internship component open to students in all majors and disciplines. Participating scholars get extensive help in finding an internship and counseling on how to succeed in that internship. Students earn 6-8 credits for their coursework and an additional 6 credits for the academic work they complete in association with their internship for a total of 12-14 credits for the semester. Classes are taught by W&M professors and are held at the W&M Washington Center. Students live in group apartments located in the center of Washington, DC.

DC Summer Institutes

The DC Summer Institutes are intensive six-credit courses composed of a compressed course and ten-week internship. The Institutes allow undergraduate student fellows to combine classroom and experiential learning, while seeing the dynamic institutions of the DC area first hand. Participating fellows get extensive help in finding an internship and counseling on how to succeed in that internship.  Students can live in group apartments located in the center of Washington, DC.

DC Summer Session

The DC Summer Session is an opportunity for students spending their summer in the DC area to take the same rigorous courses they can take on campus. Many of the courses offered are popular GERs. The DC Summer Session calendar is identical to that of Summer Sessions on campus. Classes are held at the W&M Washington Center and meet in the late afternoon and evenings during the week to accomodate working schedules.

DC Winter Seminars

W&M students earn two to three W&M credits through a 10-day seminar while experiencing DC in a structured and guided way.  Students attend classes in the W&M Washington Center, meet with experts at some of DC’s highest profile institutions, and network with alums.  Students can live in group apartments located in the center of Washington, DC.

DC Spring Break Seminars

W&M students earn three W&M credits through a 7-day seminar while experiencing DC in a structured and guided way.  Students attend classes in the W&M Washington Center, meet with experts at some of DC’s highest profile institutions, and network with alums.  Students can live in group apartments located in the center of Washington, DC.
