An inflection point in strategic planning

President Katherine A. Rowe sent the following message to the campus community Feb. 13, 2020. - Ed.

Dear William & Mary Community,

On February 7, I updated our Board of Visitors on W&M’s strategic planning process. You can read a recap of my remarks in my latest post-Board reflection

I encourage you to read closely the white papers prepared by the Strategic Planning Steering Committee and watch the finance and enrollment video modules posted on our strategic planning website. As the steering committee concludes phase II of planning, these documents frame the assumptions and objectives that will guide specific strategy development later this spring. So now is your opportunity to weigh in on those framing assumptions before we begin to formulate strategy for the decade ahead. What do you find powerful in the white papers’ articulation of the dominant challenges and opportunities that lie before us? What might you add to their scan?

Hours after I met with the Board, our community celebrated 327 years of learning and discovery at Charter Day with remarkable leaders who have changed the game in their fields of public service and scholarship. This is a powerful moment to reflect on our history of innovation as we plan William & Mary’s future.

Best regards,

Katherine A. Rowe

President
