Our Students

Our graduate students are part of an active community of scholars, where they learn critical analysis of scientific publications, field and laboratory techniques, and skills in disseminating their research results. Our low student to faculty ratio (approximately 8-10 new students each year, with 22 full-time faculty), fosters highly personalized research and education experience.

Biology graduate students have published in international peer-reviewed journals and presented their research at professional conferences.

Graduate students in our program also have tremendous success in attaining external grants to fund their research, including grants from Sigma Xi, Lerner Grey, Gordon Research Conference, American Ornithology Union, American Society of Oceanographers, and NSF.

Our graduate students work closely with and mentor undergraduates. This not only benefits the undergraduate program but also offers graduate students numerous informal teaching and personal development opportunities.
