Full Description

A study by Adriano Marinazzo, Curator of Special Projects at the Muscarelle Museum and Adjunct Professor and Designer in Residence in the Applied Science program, was recently cited in a Rheumatology International paper by leading surgeon and scientist Hutan Ashrafian.

Recently, Marinazzo proposed a theory connecting Michelangelo’s depiction of God in “The Creation of Adam” with a self-portrait by the artist – generating considerable interest among art scholars and professionals. This new citation in a medical paper, which helps highlight rheumatological disease presence in the Renaissance and throughout history, demonstrates impact beyond the art world, serving as a reminder of the interplay between the arts and the sciences.
