Why W&M

I’ve always known that I was going to attend a public university in Virginia. I expected it to be a difficult decision; however, during my first tour of William & Mary, I discovered that decision would be much easier than I had previously thought. The sense of community at W&M was unrivalled by any of the many institutions I toured. Everybody I spoke to who had attended W&M (including my first-grade teacher) was excited to still be an active member of the Tribe. I knew that I was going to be welcomed into the Tribe with open arms.

Then, there’s the history; as a huge history buff, the long and storied past of W&M appealed to me. What better place to learn history than the place where history was so often made? The campus was the perfect size for me, big enough so that a stunning variety of perspectives and ideas can be found on campus but also small enough so that I don’t feel like another face in the crowd. Last but definitely not least, the academics at W&M puts it among the upper echelon of universities in the United States and I knew that attending W&M would give me a platform from which to take on the world.
