Neuroscience

Welcome to Neuroscience at William and Mary. This interdisciplinary undergraduate program has its foundations in the traditions of the College. One only needs to look back in history and examine the careers of men like Christopher Wren to understand that a liberal arts education in the sciences can lead to great things. Wren, who is well known for his architectural accomplishments, is also a very famous neuroanatomist!

Learn more about Christopher Wren.

Today, a degree in neuroscience will prepare students to enter into careers that are as diverse as neurosurgery, public health, and academics. With an education that begins by mastering the fundamentals in several traditional areas of study (i.e., Biology, Psychology, Chemistry and Physics), students then fine tune their interests in advanced courses such as Applied Cellular Neuroscience, Neurophysiology, and Psychopharmacology. Neuroscience, which is now one of the largest interdisciplinary major at the College of William and Mary, is also arguably the hardest. However, the rewards for learning are many.

I hope you consider this program as part of your educational experience and I invite you to look further at this website and learn more about the excellent faculty and students who have become part of Neuroscience at William and Mary. If you are not a student, but wish to become involved with the program or provide support for our students in Neuroscience, please check out our opportunities for private giving.
