Center for Archaeological Research
The William & Mary Center for Archaeological Research was established in May 1988 to provide archaeological and historic preservation research services as well as applied educational opportunities in cultural resource management. Currently, the Center provides two semester-long graduate student internships and serves as a resource for student engagement with experienced cultural resource management professionals and research data. Over the course of 38 years, the Center has received more than 1,300 grants and contracts for applied research in archaeology, architectural history, archival research, and collections management. Our staff typically includes 8 to 12 full-time professionals along with several part-time employees. Center projects have contributed to a wide range of research topics encompassing virtually all time periods of the human experience in Virginia and surrounding states.

Because we are funded almost entirely by grants, gifts mean a lot to us. Your support assists the Center with operating costs and bolsters our ability to provide the best experience possible to our clients, students, and partners.
