Three Women's Basketball Student-Athletes Honored in CAA Postseason Awards; Ed Swanson Named Co-Coach of the Year

RICHMOND, Va. – The William & Mary team had four members honored by the CAA in its postseason awards announced by the conference on Tuesday.

Sophomore Eva Hodgson headlined the W&M awards as she was tabbed to the All-CAA First-Team. Senior Victoria Reynolds was named to the league's second-team, while freshman Bre Bellamy earned a spot on the all-rookie squad. Head coach Ed Swanson was named the CAA Co-Coach of the Year and he is the third coach in W&M history to earn the league's top honor.

Following her CAA Rookie of the Year honor last year, Hodgson has produced one of the best seasons in school history during her sophomore campaign. She led the CAA in scoring average at 20.7 (599 points) points per game, while also scoring the most points by a CAA player this year in a single-game with her career-high 34 at Elon. Hodgson added 107 rebounds (3.8 rpg.), 105 assists (3.7 apg.), 18 blocks (0.6 bpg.), and 45 steals (1.6 spg.) Her 599 points this year is good for the single-season school record, while her 20.7 points per game are good for ninth nationally. Hodgson also led all CAA players in scoring in league games only as she averaged 21.9 (394 points) in the Tribe's league games. She added 59 rebounds (3.3 rpg.), 66 assists (3.7 apg.), 16 blocks (0.9 bpg.), and 25 steals (1.4 spg.) in league play. She is the only player in the country shooting 50% from the field, 40% from 3-point range, and 90% from the free-throw line. The Rindge, N.H. native was in double-figures in all but one game this season and led the team scoring in 25 of the 29 games. Currently, she holds the single-season school record for points, scoring average, 3-point percentage, free-throws made, and free-throw percentage. In her first two years with the Tribe, Hodgson has now been honored by the CAA with three postseason awards.

Reynolds enjoyed a career year during her final season with the Green and Gold and earned a spot on the All-CAA Second-Team. After averaging double-figures each of the last two seasons, she has erupted for 15.8 points per game (459 points) and a team-high 6.2 (181 rebounds) this season. The senior added 91 assists (3.1 apg.), 14 blocks (0.5 bpg.), and 61 steals (2.1 spg). Reynolds has been in double-figures in 24 games this season, including the last 12. She upped her play when the conference season started and scored 17.1 ppg. (308 points), 6.6 rpg., (119 rebounds), 3.5 apg. (63 assists), 0.7 bpg. (12 blocks), and 39 steals (2.2 spg.) Reynolds became the 21st player in school history to score 1,000 career points against the College of Charleston on Jan. 12. Now at 1,248 points, she is 13th all-time in school history. Earlier this season, she set a career-high 26 points at Towson on Jan. 5 and had a pair of double-doubles this year. The award was Reynolds' first All-CAA postseason honor.

A constant in the Tribe's lineup all season, Bellamy earned a spot on the CAA All-Rookie year. Bellamy appeared in all 29 regular-season games with 25 starts. She finished her first season averaging 5.3 points per game, 3.3 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 blocks and 1.0 blocks per game. She scored a season-high 18 points in the Tribe's home win against Hofstra on Feb. 16. Bellamy also had 16 points in the road win at Towson on Jan. 5.

Swanson guided the Tribe to its best season in school history in 2019-20. The Tribe, which was selected seventh in the preseason poll, earned its highest-ever seed in the CAA Tournament with the No. 3 seed. W&M won has won the most overall games (21), and CAA games (12), and road wins (11) in school history. He became the 69th head coach in Division I history to win his 500th career game against Hartford on Nov. 23, before becoming just the third W&M coach to win 100 career games with the Tribe against Charleston in January. To continue a milestone-driven season for Swanson, he was announced as an inductee to the Northeast Conference Hall of Fame in late January. Now at 516 wins, Swanson ranks tied as the 31st active head coach in the country. With 110 wins as head coach of the Tribe, he is third all-time at W&M. This is Swanson's second 20-win season at W&M and the ninth in his career. He joins Debbie Taylor (2005-06) and Trina Thomas (1993-94) as the only Tribe head coaches to win the CAA Coach of the Year award.

The No. 3 seeded Tribe will square off with the No. 6 seed Delaware Blue Hens on Thursday, March 12 in the final quarterfinal of the day. Tip time from Elon's Schar Center is set for approximately 7:30 p.m.
