Financial Aid: W&M

Director's Welcome

On behalf of our staff, I welcome you to the WM Financial Aid Office website. I am pleased that you have decided to visit and hope that you will find the information on our site helpful.

Financial aid can be extraordinarily complicated and can change quickly. We will strive to use this site to keep you up to date on deadlines, application procedures, and changes in our financial aid programs.

The College of William and Mary provides quality undergraduate, graduate, and professional educations at affordable prices. We are here to help you meet the costs that are beyond your resources. My best wishes to you.

-- Edward P. Irish

Alert!! Some students and parents have received letters telling them there is a fee to apply for financial aid.  This is absolutely not true.  There is no charge to seek financial aid from William and Mary.

Question of the Week

Question #1: What if I have a special circumstance that you have not taken into consideration?

Answer: We have a very specific policy regarding what we will and will not consider in terms of your financial aid. Please view our Special Circumstances Application to see if your situation fits the circumstances that we will consider.

Question #2: When will entering students receive their revised financial aid award letters?

Answer: We are waiting for a software patch that will allow us to take the new loan limits set by Congress into consideration. Once we receive the patch, we will get revised letters out as soon as possible. We hope that this will be no later than mid-June. Returning students should also start receiving their letters in mid-June.
