Economics Department

The Economics Department offers a broad array of courses in theoretical and applied economics to about 160 majors and hundreds of non-majors. Our graduates pursue a wide variety of   careers, and many go on to graduate school in economics or other disciplines.

Our faculty publish frequently in top general and field-specific economics journals, as well as writing for more general audiences through textbooks and the popular press. Many have been recognized with international awards and fellowships and several frequently receive grants from funding agencies such as the National Science Foundation and the National Institutes of Health. Our faculty also are important contributors to the Thomas Jefferson Program in Public Policy.
