Matthew Haug holds a B.A. in Philosophy and a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Kansas (2000) and an M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy from Cornell University (2004, 2007). His primary research interests are in the intersection of philosophy of mind, metaphysics, and philosophy of science. His recent papers have concerned the causal status of natural selection ("Of Mice and Metaphysics," Philosophy of Science, 2007) and the realization relation in philosophy of mind ("Realization, Determination, and Mechanisms," Philosophical Studies, 2010). He is currently working on projects on mental causation, the placebo effect, and the relation between explanations offered by various sciences of the mind (such as cognitive psychology and neuroscience).
