April was born in Memphis, Tennessee, but due to her father being in the Navy, her family moved frequently. They eventually settled in South Carolina where she attended Clemson University and earned a BA in English/Theatre. In addition, she served as a Resident Assistant for three years. April loved college so much that she went on to graduate school at Clemson University and earned a M.Ed. in Higher Education Administration.
April has worked in the Student Affairs field for quite a while and have had the opportunity to work in multiple parts of Higher Education. She is currently a doctoral student at The College of William and Mary in the School of Education. April has a daughter, Emma, and a partner, Clayton, who is a chef.
April joined the Tribe family in October 2013. She has had the opportunity to engage in a wide array of diverse experiences in higher education. However, her favorite role is serving as a mentor and an educator for her students. She loves molding student leaders and assisting them with gaining confidence to be the best leaders they can be. April believes in servant leadership, leading with integrity, and have a deep passion for student development, engagement, and accountability.
April recently completed training from the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services on Trauma Informed Sexual Assault Investigations and Adjudication in April 2018.
