The William & Mary Confucius Institute (WMCI ) offers grants up to $500 each for W&M faculty to present China-focused papers at international or domestic conferences and conduct research projects in China. Applications from tenure-eligible, tenured, and full-time visiting faculty with multi-year appointments will be considered. We encourage faculty to apply early, include abstracts that are accessible to non-specialists, and be clear about the benefits of the conference and research project for both their own work and Chinese studies at the College. Faculty members may receive one conference/research grant per academic year.
Applications for support are accepted on a rolling basis. The online Faculty Conference Travel/Research Grants Application Form must be completed in full and submitted no later than 8 weeks in advance of the conference/research start date. In addition, documentation confirming your acceptance to the conference or an abstract of your research proposal must also be submitted (in pdf format) via email to Associate Director [[yliu12, Ying Liu]] before funding can be awarded.
Grants are processed as reimbursements for conference/research expenses, and are handled by staff in the grantee's home department, program, or school. Grantees must submit requests for reimbursement (including invoices, itemized receipts, etc.) to their department, program, or school administrator no later than 30 days after the close of the conference/research. WMCI will consider grants forfeited if proper documentation is not submitted in a timely manner.
Questions may be directed to [[yliu12, Ying Liu]].
