Yi Zhou (周奕) is a visiting professor from the College of Chinese Language and Culture at Beijing Normal University (BNU). He earned his BA in Chinese language and literature from BNU in 1986, then his Masters degree in linguistics and applied linguistics in 2004, and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in linguistics and applied linguistics at BNU.
He has been teaching Chinese as a foreign language since 1986 in China, Japan, the Republic of Korea, Thailand, and the USA, and has trained Chinese teachers from many countries since 1997 in China, the Republic of Korea, and Russia. He has also taught graduate courses in linguistics and applied linguistics at BNU. His main researching areas are applied Chinese phonetics, art Chinese phonetics and teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
In December 2008, he earned first place in the Chinese classic masterworks recitation contest of the Beijing educational circles.
