Zhiting Liu(刘芷廷)joined the Confucius Institute at the College of William and Mary as a volunteer teacher in January, 2014. She is currently a graduate student at Beijing Normal University, majoring in Musicology, specifically playing and teaching traditional Chinese musical instruments, especially Pipa and Erhu.

During her study at BNU,she worked as an intern music teacher in both elementary and high schools. From 2008 to 2012, she worked as a Pipa teacher in Daxing No.8 Primary School and the Primary School Affiliated with Beijing Science and Technology University. She won first place in many competitions at home and abroad, such as the Gold Award of the First Dunhuang Cup National Pipa Competition in Professional Youth Group B 2011, the Gold Award of International Chinese Arts Festival in Teacher Training group, and the Special Gold Award of Singapore Decca Lions Cup National Instrumental Competition 2010.

Zhiting has also participated in many international exchange performances. In 2011, she went to Sweden and Denmark to participate in Confucius Institute Performance Tour organized by Hanban. During the tour, she repeatedly performed as a solo player. She also made the team performance with Chinese and Italian youth organized by Chinese Ministry of Education. In 2013, she became one of the 100 Chinese college students visiting Moscow State University for a cultural exchange in Russia.
