Yujing Luan (栾钰婧) has recently joined the Confucius Institute at the College of William and Mary as a volunteer Chinese teacher in August, 2014. She is currently a Master student at the Chinese Culture & Language School of Beijing Normal University, majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Her academic interests include teaching Chinese as a second language and analyzing Chinese vocabulary and grammar.
Before joining WMCI, Yujing was trained extensively in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. In January 2013, she was recommended by her school to teach Chinese at Dankook University in Korea for one month. From the teaching experience she developed an interest in cross-cultural communication. A member of the prestigious Chinese Painting Academy, Yujing has been studying Chinese calligraphy for almost ten years and Chinese painting for three years. Additionally, she has been trained in other traditional Chinese arts such as Chinese paper-cutting and Chinese traditional dance.
