Xiaojing Zou（邹小婧） has recently joined the Confucius Institute at the College of William and Mary as a volunteer Chinese teacher in August, 2014. Xiaojing received her B.A. from Nanjing Normal University, and her High School English Teaching Certificate in 2013. She is currently a Master student at Beijing Normal University, majoring in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Her academic interests include second language acquisition, error analysis, and cross-cultural communication.
She has been trained extensively in teaching Chinese as a foreign language. During her four-year studies as an undergraduate at Nanjing Normal University, Xiaojing not only worked as a part-time Chinese language tutor for foreign students, but also taught English and Chinese in both elementary and secondary schools. She has worked as a student assistant at the College of International Culture and Education and in the Overseas Student Office for one year. Additionally, Xiaojing has been trained in traditional Chinese arts such as pipa, guzheng, Chinese paper-cutting, and calligraphy. She has performed pipa for several holiday parties held by Beijing Normal University.
