Lu Yang (杨璐) joined the Confucius Institute at the College of William & Mary as a Volunteer Teacher in July 2016. She is a graduate of Beijing Normal University, with a major in Lingusitics and Applied Lingusitics in Foreign Languages. Lu recieved both her B.A. and M.A. from Beijing Normal University in 2013 and 2016, respectively. She also studied at Tunghai University in Taiwan as an exchange student in 2014. Lu gained hands-on teaching experience by working as a part-time English and Chinese tutor. Dedicated to promoting Chinese culture internationally, Lu has been trained extensively by Hanban on teaching Chinese language and traditional arts, such as Chinese Cucurbit Flute, Chinese Chess, Chinese Knotting, etc. She loves traditional Chinese culture and has volunteered as a guide in the Museum of Beijing Normal University. In addition, she won 2nd place in the 1st Annual National English Championship Competition of Youdao Dictionary.
