Gillie Cuda (陈暮) has been interning with William and Mary Confucius Institute for the past two years and will graduate in May 2016. He is double majoring in Chinese
and International Relations
at the College. Before coming to WMCI, Gillie was awarded a year of free study at Chongqing University (CQU)
by the Chinese Scholarship Council for the undergraduate foreigner’s Chinese language program. He has passed HSK 6 as well as placed third in the CQU Foreigner’s Chinese Competition 2012. Gillie has enjoyed all parts and places of Chinese culture, including Chongqing
, and Chengdu
. Additionally, he enjoys studying Chinese calligraphy and painting, paper cutting, taiji, cooking, ancient literature and art, development of characters, and Confucianism. He hopes to help bridge the cultural gaps between China and USA to promote better understanding and tolerance.
