"Seed Funding" for Outstanding Speakers
The Speakers Task Group of the 100th Anniversary of Women invites proposals seeking "seed funding" for speakers, artists and practitioners whose presentations during academic year 2018-19 will align with one or more of the themes of the 100th Anniversary year.
$12,000 has been set aside for grants to departments, schools, programs, and individual faculty members who wish to host a guest speaker. The goal is to permit William & Mary to "stretch" – geographically or thematically – in the range of speakers we can invite to campus during 2018-19. Individual grants may range from $500-$1500. Funds may be used only for travel, housing, or honoraria. Funds are not available for hospitality, which must be provided by the department, school, program or individual faculty member.
The first round of grantmaking opens in November, 2017. All requests should be submitted by December 15, 2017. Decisions will be announced in mid-January, 2018.
There will be another, smaller round of grantmaking in the spring of 2018.
