Catherine Teackle Dennis

Catherine Dennis of Suffolk enrolled at William & Mary on September 19, 1918. She graduated in 1921 with a Bachelor of Science in Home Economics. She later received a Masters of Arts from Columbia University and an Honorary LLD from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Dennis spent her entire career as an educator, retiring in 1968 as head of the Home Economics Department at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She was a proud member of Delta Kappa Gamma; Daughters of the American Revolution; the Jamestown Society; Colonial Dames; the Suffolk Nansemond Historical Society; and numerous other organizations.

Catherine Dennis returned to William & Mary in 1993 and was honored as the oldest living alumna at the 1993 Homecoming. She died in 2002.

Her papers are housed in Swem Library's Special Collections.
