Forming the letter "Q," remains of a well believed to be dug by Northern troops occupying Williamsburg bisects remains of a wall that archaeologists think was "robbed" of brick for the well lining. The well was lined with rectangular brick eked out with pieces of dressed sandstone, while professional well-diggers would use specially tapered bricks.
