Researchers from the Center for Conservation Biology have documented a
record number of breeding pairs of bald eagles on the James River.
They've also set some personal benchmarks. The CCB survey flight team
is (from left) Capt. Fuzzzo ("Spelled with three zs; the middle z is
silent.") Shermer, CCB Director Bryan Watts and Mitchell Byrd, William
& Mary professor of biology emeritus. Byrd is flying his 35th
consecutive eagle survey; Watts, his 20th.
