Women's Health
The Student Health Center provides a variety of services for women. These services include routine pelvic exams, pap smears, contraception, treatment of Sexually Transmitted Infections, emergency contraception, pregnancy testing and counseling, and clinical care for women who have been sexually assaulted.
Birth Control Counseling and Gynecological Exams
Birth control counseling and gynecological examinations for routine pelvic examinations and Pap smears are available by appointment. Please do not urinate for one hour prior to your appointment. Women seeking prescriptions for birth control DO NOT need a gynecological exam.
To make an appointment for a GYN exam and/or to obtain contraception, you must do the following:
- Call the Health Center at (757) 221-2998 to set up your appointment.
- All women MUST complete the GYN History Form (pdf) and bring it to your appointment. If you are making an appointment for a PAP Smear, please print the PAP Testing Information Form (pdf) as well and bring both of these with you to your appointment, along with your insurance card or insurance information.
- Please do not urinate one hour before your appointment.
For missed yearly GYN exams there is a cancellation policy of a minimum 24-hour notification. This allows the flexibility of assigning another student to the vacated time slot. If you do not keep your appointment and have not notified us within the 24 hour period, you will be charged a $25 fee.
