Spam bots feast on emails found in web pages but we’ve got a simple trick in Cascade to hide ours. In the editor place w| in front of a username and surround it with square brackets, for example [[w|txjeff]]. Bots only see “useless” text inside brackets and crawl away. Browsers on the other hand will convert the username into a functional @wm.edu email link, in this case firstname.lastname@example.org.
Same trick works for @email.wm.edu, @vims.edu and @mason.edu addresses as well as the department addresses @cs.wm.edu, @math.wm.edu and @physics.wm.edu. Just replace w| in the example with e|, v|, m|, cs|, math| or physics| respectively.
