Spam bots feast on emails found in web pages but we’ve got a simple trick in Cascade to hide ours. In the editor surround the username with square brackets, for example [[tgriffin]]. Bots only see “useless” text inside brackets and crawl away. Browsers on the other hand will convert the username into a functional @wm.edu email link, in this case firstname.lastname@example.org.
The same trick works for @vims.edu and @mason.edu addresses as well as custom department addresses such as @cs.wm.edu, @math.wm.edu and @physics.wm.edu. Just include a v|, m|, cs|, math| or physics| in front of the username in the double brackets.
