Planning
The Performance Plan is primarily a tool for communication of the job responsibilities, levels of achievement for these responsibilities and development goals for the performance period/cycle. At the beginning of the performance period/cycle the supervisor and employee will work together to ensure an understanding of job responsibilities, priorities and performance expectations.
Together the supervisor and employee will:
- Define or clarify the core responsibilities of the job.
- Determine measurable performance expectations or levels of achievement for each core responsibility.
- Create a Development Plan to include learning goals and specific steps to be taken to accomplish these goals.
- The supervisor, reviewer and employee will sign the Performance Plan. The supervisor keeps the original Performance Plan in their supervisor file for reference during the performance period/cycle. The employee will receive a copy of the Performance Plan. The Performance Plan is not required to be filed in the employee's personnel file maintained in the Office of Human Resources.
