Consulting Agreements

William & Mary is not a party to consulting agreements between W&M inventors and third party companies. That having been said, all consulting agreements must be consistent with W&M and departmental policies.

W&M faculty and staff who enter into consulting agreements should ensure compliance with the conflict of interest policies of the institution and the state. Please also be aware that contractual obligations to a third party do not override or circumvent an employee's obligations to W&M, and thus all potential consulting agreements should be reviewed carefully to ensure that there is not a conflict between the various obligations.

Consulting services should not involve any use of funds, personnel, facilities, materials, or other resources of W&M other than the library and Consultant's office and personal computer.
