What Can You Recycle?

Here's what you can put in any recycling container on campus:

Paper & Cardboard (if you can tear it, they can take it):
  • White paper
  • Color paper
  • Wrapping paper
  • Mixed paper (e.g. Forms, Catalogs, Phone books, Newspapers, Magazines)
  • Cardstock materials (e.g. Folders, Paper bags)
  • Paperboard (e.g. Cereal boxes)
  • Flattened small cardboard boxes
  • Post-its
Plastics #1 - #7 (empty & rinse, do not flatten):

If you are unsure, for the symbol with the number, normally located on the bottom.

  • recycling  
Other Items (empty & rinse, do not flatten):
  • Aluminum cans
  • Steel/Tin cans
  • Milk/juice cartons
  • All colors of glass bottles/jars
NOT Recycled
  • Pizza boxes or any items soiled by food
  • Aerosol cans
  • Ceramics (e.g. mugs)
  • Mirrors
  • Broken glass
  • Paper or plastic cups
  • Plastic bags, lightbulbs, batteries (recycled at special locations on campus, see below)
