Residence Life is excited to welcome you to William & Mary for the 2023-24 Academic Year! We know that choosing your housing accommodations for the upcoming year is an important piece of your W&M experience and we would like to invite you to consider living in W&M campus housing. New First Year StudentsIf you're an incoming freshman it all starts with the 2023-24 Housing Application. Freshman housing is NOT assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Learn more about your potential housing preference options by visiting our Freshman Halls online! The 2023-24 Housing Application will open May 1, 2023 for New Freshman! The deadline to submit your application - and - to make any special housing requests is May 31, 2023. The New Student Room Selection process will take place in June. |
New Transfer StudentsALL transfers are welcome to live on campus based on available space. If the demand for on campus housing exceeds the available inventory, transfer student housing applicants who are not required to live on campus may be placed on the Housing Wait list and will not be guaranteed on campus housing. We recommend that transfer students apply as soon as possible by completing the 2023-24 Housing application. New Graduate StudentsThe 2023-2024 Housing Application will open May 1, 2023 for New Graduate Students! We will start emailing out housing assignment information to applicants beginning the week of May 8, 2023 and will continue to review housing applications as they are submitted. All Graduate Students are welcome to live on campus based on available space. Learn more about your potential housing preference options by visiting our Graduate Complex Apartments online! Two Year Live On RequirementFirst year freshman students enrolled full time are required to live in on-campus housing during their first two (2) years following their high school graduation. The program will explore additional academic, social, and cultural living and learning communities for students in the third and fourth semesters at W&M.. Learn more about this requirement now. |
Before we can officially make a W&M housing assignment, students are required to review and accept the terms and conditions of the housing contract. Please note: you are committing to pay for housing for the 2023-24 Academic Year when you sign the Residence Life Housing contract - before you obtain a room assignment. Please review the contract carefully, including the cancellation policies. There are also steps in the Housing Portal to note your housing preferences.
Please also note that most W&M students live in double occupancy rooms and that singles are limited. Students seeking medically indicated singles should contact Student Accessibility Services at (757) 221-2510 as soon as possible. Once assigned to a room you will be able to submit a room change request.
Below you will find the steps you should follow to complete the acceptance of the housing contract.
- Log into the housing system using your W&M username and password: Housing Portal. If you are unsure of your W&M username and password, please contact the W&M Information Technology office for assistance: 757.221.4357 or [[support]].
- Select "2023-24 Academic Housing Application" from the list in the left side menu.
- Make sure that you read the housing contract and review the terms and conditions prior to signing.
- Enter your student ID at the bottom of the contract.
- Click "I Agree to the Terms and Conditions". This is your electronic signature indicating you reviewed the terms and conditions for housing.
New Students – It may take up to 3 business days after your admissions deposit is posted for the Housing Portal to allow you to log in and complete the necessary steps.
