Outdoor Instructional Spaces

Information about outdoor spaces available on an ad hoc basis for instruction or meetings.

W&M has made tent spaces available on campus near Monroe Hall, James Blair Hall, and the graduate school buildings. They may be used on a drop-in basis for individual and small group studying or recreation, when not previously scheduled for a meeting or class session via Virtual EMS.

Please note that the information included on this page is subject to change.

Tent Specifics and Community Guidelines
  • Tents will not have sides, floors, wifi, technology, heat, or electricity. Tents will have tables and chairs
  • Faculty whose classes are scheduled in a tent are responsible for having a reliable communication plan with all students, so that last-minute weather-related or other changes (e.g., to zoom) can be communicated promptly
  • Faculty or others who want to schedule a single class meeting or other ad hoc event in one of the tents should use Virtual EMS. For spaces not listed in Virtual EMS, please contact the staff member listed in the chart below or the office manager for the desired space
