WE connects students with local community partners for a semester volunteer for two to three hours weekly. Participants are able to positively affect people's lives in our community, and learn firsthand the inner workings of a nonprofit partner. WE participants learn about the specific social issues that our partners address and reflect on their experiences, which can allow them to deepen their commitment as active citizens. Participants also develop transferable leadership skills in the areas of collaboration, team dynamics, and peer-to-peer leadership.
"I learned a lot about food deserts in Williamsburg and programs that exist to help alleviate them. I also learned that there are ways to stay actively engaged in community way beyond college, and met some of the greatest people ever!" - WE participant
