The Make-A-Wish Foundation* of Greater Virginia
Website: {{http://www.va.wish.org}}
Description
The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy. Our chapter territory includes all of Virginia except for 4 1/2 northern Virginia counties. Since 1987, more than 3,600 wishes have been granted by our chapter at an average cost of $7,000 each. The Kids For Wish Kids Program is designed to involve K-12 through college age students in the wish-granting process by encouraging the development of events to raise funds to grant local wishes and educate the public about the services available to medically-qualified families. The most frequent children’s wishes are: I wish to go; I wish to have; I wish to be and I wish to meet.
Need
Individual students, teachers, clubs and organizations interested in developing a community service project to help grant a local wish are encouraged to contact me to discuss ideas and opportunities. I will continue to work with them through the project to facilitate success and give recognition for their efforts!
