Williamsburg Engagement (WE) connects W&M students with local nonprofit agencies in weekly community engagement projects. WE groups work with a nonprofit for a semester, focusing on a specific social issue, reflecting on the issue and their experience, and growing together as active citizens. WE facilitates partnerships for strong direct service, creating more sustainable relationships between the college and our community partners. Each WE group is lead by the Fellow for Local Engagement and includes a small team of volunteers.
"I learned a lot about food deserts in Williamsburg and programs that exist to help alleviate them. I also learned that there are ways to stay actively engaged in community way beyond college, and met some of the greatest people ever!" - WE participant
