Education & Youth Development Programs

Through Education and Youth Development programs, William & Mary students offer high quality social-emotional and academic programming to local pre-K-12 youth.  While supporting the healthy development of young people in Williamsburg, university students gain a deeper understanding of education equity. Volunteers commit to a semester or year of weekly mentoring, after school programming, literacy tutoring, and weekend enrichment programs. Browse our page for more information about our programs and how you can get involved.

Impact

The William & Mary Office of Community Engagement's Education Programs work hard to positively impact the communities they serve by focusing on raising the quality of service. During Spring Semester 2023, we began collaborating with York County Head Start. Throughout the three GSP program areas, over 90 volunteers served young people in WJCC schools. In the After School program, we served 52 students, who at least 50% of them qualify for free-and-reduced lunch.  In Literacy Lab, 50 struggling readers have been helped.
