Description

Free access to information is a foundation of democracy. The Williamsburg Regional Library, a basic government service, provides that access through resources and programs that inform, enrich and strengthen our community. The library offers services for children and adults including programming, reader’s advisory, and reference.

Need

Volunteer opportunities are many, including shelving books, shelf reading, occasional data entry projects, general computer assistance, and serving as computer class teachers. Students are needed to help with practice sessions of the Battle of the Books (a Jeopardy-like game) during February and March; they are also needed throughout the summer months. There are also numerous "for-a-day" volunteer opportunities for students willing to work with crafts programs, school visits in character costume and shelf reading. Must complete an application (available online or in the buildings). Prefer a six month commitment to volunteer and a set schedule. Volunteer application information is matched with available volunteer positions. Community Service volunteers must be referred to the library by a local government agencies; they should not complete the application.
