MATLAB is a high-level language and interactive environment that enables you to perform computational and visualization intensive tasks faster than with traditional programming languages such as C, C++, and Fortran. The name MATLAB stands for Matrix Laboratory. The basic MATLAB operating structure is a matrix, and the program is designed especially to help compute problems with matrix and vector formulations. The program lets users manipulate numerical data and create graphical representations of the information. MATLAB also offers a complete programming environment that serves as a powerful tool for numerical applications.

Additionally, there are several MATLAB toolboxes available for use. MATLAB toolboxes are sets of MATLAB programs designed to solve a specific set or type of problem. The toolboxes William and Mary licenses are:

License Agreement

During the License Term, Programs may be installed and used by Licensed Users on Licensee-owned or leased individual, standalong, computers and network servers. Licensee's faculty and academic staff who are Licensed Users may install and use the Program on their personally owned, on campus, off campus, and via remote access. Under this Total Academic Headcount (TAH) License - Campus Option, students qualify as Licensed Users solely for the purpose of using the Programs in on-campus computing facilities and are expressly prohibited from installing and using the Programs on their personally owned computers, and from remotely accessing the Programs. The MathWorks, Inc. Software License Agreement requires that Licensed Users may run multiple simultaneous Program sessions on not more than two (2) separate processors, whether located in the same or different computer.
