The ShoreTel (Mitel) campus phone system had an upgrade on Saturday, May 19th. Communicator has been replaced by a new system called Connect Client.
The ShoreTel campus phone system (which is being renamed as Mitel) had an upgrade on Saturday, May 19.
IMPORTANT! There have been multiple issues related to the installation of Connect Client. The Connect Client Troubleshooting Steps webpage can help you navigate these issues. We apologize for the inconvenience the transition has been causing.
What to Expect After Upgrade
The upgrade brought the following changes:
- Minor cosmetic changes to the menu options on desk phones. Example: "Mode" was renamed to "State".
- Communicator (the software that connects your phone to your computer) changed to a new system called Connect Client. See below for details.
Communicator has been replaced by a new system called Connect Client. During the upgrade, existing Communicator clients were removed from the W&M Fac/Staff desktop image via Big Fix and Connect Client were installed in its place.
If this did not happen for you, reboot your computer!

PCs on William & Mary's ESP leasing program, were automatically have the Connect Client installed as part of the phone system upgrade. If this did not happen for you, reboot your computer!
