Courtney Carpenter

About Courtney

As IT's former chief information officer, Courtney Carpenter presided over a diverse professional staff committed to providing a wide range of top-notch technological services to William & Mary. He reported directly to the Provost and was the face of W&M IT at the senior administrative level.

Courtney holds a B.S. degree from Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, Virginia. He began his career at William & Mary in 1995 as Director of Telecommunications. He became the Director of Technology in 1998, Associate Provost for Information Technology in 2001, and the university's first CIO in 2006. Prior to W&M, Courtney worked for the federal government in Defense Information Systems.
