Welcome to the family! This is an exciting time and we are preparing now for your arrival in January. William & Mary views our relationship with you and your student as a partnership. Through this partnership, we seek to create the optimal support system for every student. Our relationship begins at Family Orientation where you will gain helpful information to support your student.
Registration for the 2018 Spring Family Orientation Program closes January 10.
When to Arrive
Orientation check-in and residence hall move-in begins at 8:00 am on Friday, January 12, 2018. At this time, students should check-in for orientation in the Lobby of the Campus Center and pick-up their room key from Residence Life.
When it Begins
While offices are open Friday morning for students and families to move-in and wrap-up any administrative loose ends, Spring Orientation for New Students and Families will begin over lunch beginning promptly at 12 Noon in the Chesapeake Rooms of the Sadler Center. Please make sure to review the Spring Orientation Schedule (available December 15) before you arrive on-campus.
Plan to Attend
If you plan to attend Parent & Family Orientation you may need overnight accommodations. Plan your visit now. If you need to make reservations for your family in local motels or hotels, you should begin to make those plans as soon as possible. You will find a variety of accommodation options in and around Williamsburg including hotels, bed and breakfasts and other vacation rentals.
Parents and family members play a vital role in your student's transition to William & Mary. As you meet caring professionals who will work with your student, the College is much more than the second oldest college in the country; it will become a network. Family Orientation will help you understand the academic and social environment at William & Mary and connect you with the resources that are available and encouraged to your student.
