For many of you, this will be the first time you've ever lived away from home and we want to make the housing process as painless as possible.

Table Outlining Housing Types and Resources
Freshman Campus Housing

If you're an incoming freshman it all starts with the Freshman Housing Application. Freshman housing is NOT assigned on a first-come, first-serve basis. Learn more about the process and get started today! The deadline to submit your application - and - to make any special housing requests is May 31.

Transfer Campus Housing

While social class of 2023 and 2024 transfer students fall under the two-year residency requirement, ALL transfers are welcome to live on campus! We recommend that transfer students apply as soon as possible by completing the Transfer Student Housing application. Make sure to provide accurate contact information so that Residence Life can reach you over the summer. We will make housing offers via email, so it is important to check your university email often.

Priority Housing Accommodations

If you require any housing-related accommodations due to a diagnosed disability, you must register with Student Accessibility Services. All requests and documentation for this type of housing accommodation must be submitted by June 1, 2020. Once Student Accessibility Services has received your completed registration and documentation information, please allow up to two (2) weeks for processing. We will process requests submitted after the deadline as soon as possible, but approvals may be delayed due to housing availability and other factors. SAS will notify Residence Life if your accommodation is approved.

Residence Life also seeks to provide adaptive housing accommodations for students with documented needs based on gender identity, religious need or recovery from substance abuse. All requests and any supporting documentation for this type of housing accommodation must be submitted by June 1, 2020. An adaptive room accommodation is not automatically transferable from one academic year to the next. The university reserves the right to make final decisions regarding all adaptive rooming requests. Students wishing to request adaptive housing should begin by contacting Residence Life.

Two Year Live on Requirement

Students in their freshman and sophomore year are required to live on campus, regardless of distance from their permanent address. The program will explore additional academic, social, and cultural living and learning communities for students in the third and fourth semesters at W&M. Learn more about this requirement now.
