William and Mary made a campus wide commitment to sustainability and institutionalized that commitment through a policy issued by President Taylor Reveley, III in April of 2008. Part of that commitment includes promoting a comprehensive and effective recycling program.

The recycling program at the College is managed primarily through Facilities Management and Residence Life. The overall program includes many different streams/commodities but centers around a campus wide single stream operation with bulk handling of recyclable materials. The Department of Facilities Management is responsible overall for the recycling program. General questions should be directed to the [[watterslake, Director of Sustainability]] and more specific questions relating to recycling of hazardous waste to the [[slprio, Director of Environment, Health and Safety]].

The Recycling Guidance link (left column, in yellow) takes you to a comprehensive page outlining what is recycled at William and Mary, where and beyond.
