Originally from Birmingham, Alabama, Thomas has worked in higher education with a focus in diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging for over 20 years at institutions that range from highly selective liberal arts to HBCUs to regional and national research institutions. Thomas comes to William and Mary from Salem State University in Massachusetts where since Spring 2018, he served as the Director for the Center for Justice and Liberation.
Thomas graduated from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a B.S. and the University of South Carolina with a M.Ed. He has a certification from the University of Southern California Equity Institute.
